Tech Tools: Skype Support

Make sure that your equipment is plugged in and working properly. Your speakers and microphone should be turned on and selected in the Skype web interface.

Some common audio issues include not being able to hear the other site. Make sure that microphones are not muted. Another common audio issue is echo or distortion. Participating sites may need to occasionally mute a microphone or adjust microphone volume. If your site is equipped with an echo-cancelling webcam make sure the correct microphone device is selected in the Skype software interface.

Video quality is often affected by internet bandwidth. When possible try to use a hard-wired connection instead of a wireless connection.
